After witnessing a bizarre event as a child, Jackson Reed set a strict course for his future. But life didn’t exactly go according to plan. He’s now a sheriff, a job he never wanted, in a rural area of Arkansas with a county seat named Peculiar. It’s the kind of thing that happens when your wife runs off to join a motorcycle gang, throwing well intended plans off course. Emotionally distraught and trying to sort out his life, Jack finds himself at the center of a controversial project that could threaten Peculiar’s existence. It falls to Jack to hold himself and the town together while finding a way out of the mess.
